I am happy to announce that the little glass charms of Kuro are here and ready to order! This collaboration with local British Columbian artisan Neacol Miller has been so much fun … seeing these little guys come to life has brought me squeals of enjoyment and I know it’ll be the same for anyone who gets their own!

Kuro charms are limited edition of 250. Each Kuro comes in his own black jewelry box, 18″ silver plated chain, cell phone charm strap and a signed certificate of authenticity printed on full color, heavy gloss stock paper. Every single Kuro made is slightly unique, since they are individually hand crafted and may look different from the photos. You can order your own from my online store right now.

Kuro charms will make their official retail debut at The Ayden Gallery on Saturday February 13th, during the gallery show, 5, which I am a part of! I will also be at the show, since Ken knows how to put on a good party at The Ayden and we’re all revved up by Olympics fever.

Glass charm Kuro is possible thanks to Neacol and her husband Stanley, Miller. They own Bling Squared Wearable Glass Sculptures and work out of Salt Spring Island. This is their website and they make some of the most adorable little glass charms you’ll ever see! You can see and buy more of their creations here. They are a husband and wife team and their inspiration comes from obsessions with Japanese animation, comic books, fashion, pop culture and their daughter. Kind of like me, except without the daughter ~_n!

After being bombarded with requests, pleas, and pretty pleases we are bringing back the digital prints! Not all the prints though .. we won’t have every one of the old prints available since some of those images are being retired to the Hall of Fame, to make room for other ones! All digital prints will be sold online and at conventions and will still only cost $30 for full color and $25 for black and white.
New Print Releases
The new digital prints will feature work I’ve done for comic covers, digital paintings, and more black and white Helmetgirls illustrations. There will be some prints of paintings from my earlier body of work. To begin with, we’ve released Neo New York as our first new print of the year. Planned prints include: Myspace Dark Horse Presents cover, Exploded View Cover, Elephantmen #29 Cover, Symbiotic Friends black and white, and Little Pink Ink Monsters. We also want to hear from you: which images do you want to see as digital prints?
Print of the Month at a Special Price
Every month we will feature a print; it may be an old favorite, like Bird’s Nest or it may be a new, never before released print. The featured print will be on sale throughout that month, for $25 instead of $30. It is a great deal that you won’t want to miss out on! This month’s featured print is Neo New York and is now available for the whole month of February on the online store for its special price!

Tanpopo Posters
We’re also going to offer new Tanpopo Posters! These were a big hit last year in Singapore, we will have them at all conventions and we will soon have them on the online store. Here is one: Tanpopo Field.

Specs
The prints are all 12″ x 18″, open edition, unsigned, and digitally printed on the highest quality, heavy card stock.
The posters are also 12″ x 18″, printed on glossy, lightweight paper. They are great for framing!

Lots of news in the comics realm to share, so let’s get started!
About a week ago, I posted on FB that I had put Tanpopo online for free! That’s right, I want everyone to see it, even if only digitally. Tanpopo is my series that weaves original literature and poetry into the story of Tanpopo, as she is goes in search of emotions, happiness and ultimately loved. Her companion on this journey is Kuro, who is none other than the devil in disguise. The series is loosely based on Goethe’s Faust, and the text in Volume 1 is from Faust. Volume 2 is inspired by the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

This week marks the release of the last issue in the Sky Pirates series! You get to find out whether the light crystal’s powers are stronger than the evil magnetism of the Forgotten Isle, and what happens to Billy and his friends. You can read the preview here. I had a lot of fun drawing this series, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Here are a couple of recent interviews: one is by Newsarama and the other is by Comic Related. Make sure you pick up your issues at your local comic book store!

Next up is a cover I worked on with Vancouver comic collective, Cloudscape Comics. The cover is for an anthology called Exploded View and it has comics and stories from a lot of talented local Vancouver comic artists and writers. There is an excerpt and Pin Up of the cover for the BURN graphic novel, too! Keep your eyes on my blog and FB for news on when the anthology will be published.

And lastly, another cover! Yes, for Elephantmen. This will be on Elephantmen, issue 29, which is due out around APE (so much later this fall). I love the Elephantmen series and am honored and excited about getting to do a cover!

And of course, to answer the eternal question: will either of these covers come out as prints … the answer is …
YES!
More on that later …

Hi guys!
I’m back into the swing of things after an energizing trip to Hong Kong and a deathly aftermath of a flu that literally kept me bedridden for 8 days. And here I thought I’d be able to really stick to my schedule! Ha ha, dream on, dream on.
While I was away, the “Under the Influence” He-Man show opened at Gallery 1988. Check out all the artwork on the blog. The show got a lot of press, and apparently the install was pretty mean! The show runs until January 29th, so if you haven’t gone, you’ve still got a week to get there.
On the day He-Man closes in LA, a new pop-up exhibition opens in Vancouver. Hosted by HERE IS NOW, this exhibition pulls together a ton of Vancouver contemporary artists and shows their work in unconventional spaces. The exhibition is at Chapel Arts, Vancouver and the opening is going to be packed with art, artists, live music and more! I’ve got some artwork in this exhibition too ^_^. It’s a Friday night so Vancouverites you have no excuse! Come out!

Hot on the heels of the HERE IS NOW, is the show at The Ayden, simply called 5. Yes, the number 5. It stands for 5 great artists, one exhibition, and a chance for the world to see our art, during Vancouver’s two weeks in the Olympics spotlight! The 5 artists are BC contemporary artists and we’re all regulars at The Ayden. I’m exploring the theme of Canadian nature and culture. Nature isn’t new to me, but I get to really show my pride and love of Canada with this, so I’m really stoked. The show opens on February 13th, the day after Olympics opening ceremonies.

The day before the ‘5′ show, another show opens across the continent, in a completely different environment. I know, I know, this could get sticky and controversial, but I’m equally excited to contribute a piece to the Dirty Show, which takes place within the International Erotic Art Exhibition – the Dirty Show. Anyone who may find this disturbing, I’d invite you to read about the Dirty show. I hope I’m not alienating any loving fans or Moms and Dads of my fans, but I am looking forward to this show too! I’ll be contributing one new, ‘dirty’ piece to a show within the exhibition, called The Red Light Exhibit! And I’m in good company:

Work in progress shots of all new pieces are on their way! And my next update will be about comics and covers. For now, mark your calendars for these art events and thanks for the love and support.

Hey everyone. So far Hong Kong has been an amazing trip and I still haven’t managed to sift through the visual stimuli and wrap my head around the opportunities! I think Asia is going to be seeing a lot more of me ^_^.
While out here though I wanted to share with you another awesome press post that was made about the new winter clothing line. One of the top clothing blogs on the Internet, called iloveyourtshirt, just posted about the clothing!! If you don’t know the blog, you should have a read through it; they always feature some sweet finds. Just around New Year’s another clothing blog posted too, this one is called the t-shirtmagazineonline! Check out the post here.
Hope you’re all having a great week so far!

Hi! Did everyone have a great Christmas?! And did you celebrate the New Year with friends galore?! Taking a short break to enjoy friends and family was just what I needed!
Let me tell you what the general plan is for 2010, because it is already jam-packed with comics, paintings, toys, conventions, and goodies. We’ve changed the EVENTS CALENDAR on the website. You can now find it under the BLOG on the left as its own category. Bookmark this site so you always know what’s coming up! All the event info, and more is on the Fanpage too.
PAINTINGS – This year I’ve got a solo show in Rome, which opens June 5th. The gallery is called Mondo Bizzarro and I’m going to be at the opening. I’ll be painting an entire collection of Helmetgirls. Between now and then there are a few other shows going on: the first is the HE MAN show at Gallery 1988 LA. This one opens on January 8th. I wish I could be there! I’ve posted the work in progress shots here. I’ve also got a few pieces for a special show at the Ayden Gallery in Vancouver, that opens February 13th, right as the Olympics take over the city. The show is an all-Canadian, all-BC group with me, Peter Taylor, Ben Tour and Lani Imre. I’m going to explore nature and culture a little more in depth with these paintings.

COMICS – Sky Pirates finishes with issue 5 in January. The series has been grueling to draw, but also fun. I’ve poured my heart and soul into it, and you can tell by the detail in the images. 2010 will be the year of Tanpopo 3 & 4, as well as some cover art coming for Elephantmen, Cloudscape, and of course, Little Red Riding Hood for Fractured Fables (Silverline). I’m also working on a top secret graphic novel project that I hope to soon tell the world about!

CONVENTIONS: This year you’ll see me, Nancy and my merchandise all over the countries (Canada/US)! We’re hitting 15 conventions, including San Diego Comic Con with a booth in the dealer’s room! Oh yes, moving UP. We’ve got a ton of great stuff coming, including the new line of clothing, a new postcard set from Last Gasp, new art cards and new prints, as well as something truly special – Jewelry! Stay tuned for more!

I’m looking forward to 2010, and all that it will bring. I especially look forward to meeting everyone that’s out there, and who supports me in everything I do.
All the best to you for 2010. It’s gonna be epic ^_^

The artists are set (including me), the performers are revving their engines, the venue is looking nice, and the DJ’s/musicians are just itching to put your holiday stress at ease. The night is going to be unreal!
Join me on Saturday, December 19th in Vancouver, for the first Spectaction benefit event! The guys at the Arts Benevolence League have put together a line-up of art, music, theatre, dance … WOW! I’ll be live painting, so come out and support a great cause: all proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society and Camp Goodtimes.

There is going to be a great ART SHOW + SILENT AUCTION + RAFFLE at the event on Saturday, there is an extensive selection of products available to purchase or to win! We’ll be offering a wide variety of great gifts for your moms, dads, brothers, sisters, friends, significant others or even yourself! There are over 50 prizes to be won in the raffle alone! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to scoop up some presents at a great deal! And remember, ALL THE PROCEEDS GO TO CAMP GOODTIMES!
I don’t know if there are tickets left, since at last check there were less than 20 (!!) but if you’re interested, go to SITKA STORE : 1864 West 4th Ave. and ask the guys there about tickets!
See you tomorrow and thanks for supporting such a great cause. It will be a Merry Christmas for a lot more kids this year.

Hi everyone! I’m energized and excited (when am I not? lol). But this week has been full of news. This time I want to share a bunch of comic related news.
First of all, Image Comics (Silverline) announced their Free Comic Book Day entry, and it is Fractured Fables. The reason I’m so ecstatic is that I’m in it, I got to collaborate with Bryan Talbot on it, but even better is that our story leads off the 36-page comic! And as if that weren’t enough, this is a preview of a bigger anthology that will come out later in the summer with an unreal list of big names contributing! Read the announcement here. And this is the first page of the story, Little Red Riding Hood.

And as if THAT weren’t enough … check out this trailer for the 2010 release of a new Grant Morrison Documentary http://www.grantmorrisonmovie.com/.
To end off this little blurb about comics, let me show you what I’m working on … the final issue of Sky Pirates of Neo Terra. Issue 5. This is the cover, and also a few shots of the pages I’m working on now! Enjoy, enjoy, I’ve got a deadline to catch!
